FOR ADULTS & TEENS AGES 12-17 | PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Help document the diversity of life found across Tyler Arboretum. Explore meadow and forest ecosystems on this guided Bioblitz walk with Tyler staff and volunteers. Search for wildflowers, pollinators, birds, insects, fungi, and other species while learning about the habitats that support them. As you move from open grassland into the forest, observe how the diversity of life changes from one habitat to another. Beginners and experienced iNaturalist users are welcome.
Contribute your observations to a community science project and help build a better understanding of Tyler’s plants, animals, fungi, and other living organisms.
Getting Started with iNaturalist:
Download the free iNaturalist app from the App Store or Google Play, then join the Tyler Arboretum Bioblitz October 2026 project.
1. Open the iNaturalist app and go to “Menu”
2. Select “Projects”
3. In the search bar, type Tyler Arboretum Bioblitz October 2026
4. Click on the project, then click “Join”
What to expect:
• Check in at the Visitor Center and meet your guides
• Easy 5-minute walk to our bioblitz location
• Walking surfaces that include pavement, grass, gravel, and rocky trails
• Some hills and uneven, rocky terrain in the North Woods
• Restrooms are a short walk from our location
What to wear and carry:
• A smartphone with the free iNaturalist app downloaded
• Dress in layers for the weather
• Hiking boots or shoes with good tread
• Insect repellent; please apply at home
• Water and snacks
• Hiking poles (if you use them)

GUEST PASS HOLDERS: Upon arrival, please check in at the Visitor Center and give your guest passes to the Visitor Center Associate, or inform them that you are accompanying a Family or higher-level member as their guest.
LIBRARY PASS HOLDERS: Upon arrival, please check in at the Visitor Center and present your Tyler Arboretum Library Pass. Please note that you must check out a Tyler Arboretum Library Pass as you would a book at your local library — confirm its availability for this program date before reserving your ticket.
